Pupils spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is a strength.OFSTED
At Stanburn Primary School our PSHCE curriculum equips pupils with the knowledge, understanding skills and strategies required to live healthy, safe, productive, capable, responsible and balanced lives. It encourages children to be enterprising and supports them in making effective transitions, positive learning and career choices and in achieving wellbeing.
We support pupils in building their confidence, resilience and self- esteem, and help them to learn how to identify and manage risks, make informed choices and understand what influences their decisions. We teach pupils how to recognise, accept, accommodate and celebrate differences and manage emotions constructively. Understanding themselves, empathising and being able to work with others helps pupils to form and maintain good relationships and develop essentials skills for life.
Our lessons follow the Jigsaw scheme and learning in embedded within a broad global and historical context, using the widest possible perspectives and including the contributions of people of many different backgrounds.
The scheme consists of six puzzles (themes) which are designed to progress in sequence from September to July:
Autumn 1: Being in My World
Autumn 2: Celebrating Difference (including anti-bullying)
Spring 1: Dreams and Goals
Spring 2: Healthy Me
Summer 1: Relationships
Summer 2: Changing Me (including RSE)
We provide creative learning activities that allow children to choose the media with which they work and give them scope to work to their full potential.
