Teaching and Learning

Stanburn Primary School has teaching and learning at its core. Children learn as a result of all aspects of school life and we aim to make the learning experience intellectually stimulating and rewarding.

Consistently good quality teaching and learning means that teachers provide valuable guidance to help pupils improve their work. OFSTED, 2016

We encourage the children to think deeply, ask intelligent questions, explore the world around them, and acquire a thirst for learning.

In summary, we provide a lively, creative  curriculum which challenges, inspires and motivates our pupils and enables them to participate in a range of high-quality learning.

Early Years Foundation Stage

Reception children learn in a rich, stimulating and caring environment, both indoors and outside. They work and play by themselves, with other children and adults. The Foundation Stage curriculum is made up of seven areas of learning. These areas are: communication and  language, physical development, personal social and emotional development, literacy, mathematics, understanding the world and expressive arts and design.

We liaise closely with parents throughout the Foundation Stage to ensure that children grow in confidence in all areas of their development.

A revised and creative curriculum linked to enrichment activities stimulates pupils’ learning and provides them with memorable experiences.OFSTED, 2016
