Black Lives Matter

Many of the children in school and at home have been thinking about this over the last few weeks—and so have the staff. We hope that you have been able to view the video, shared on our own dB Primary virtual learning environment, under the Special Messages tab in the Stanburn School community.

We would love our pupils to take part in the 500 words writing competition. 500 words is the world’s largest story-writing competition for children. Over a million stories have been submitted since 2011, in response to everything from technology to climate change. This year, the theme for the story-writing competition is Black Lives Matter. They will need to use their imagination, experiences or hopes to write an original short story (no more than 500 words). Virgin Radio is starting their competition on Monday 29th June and it ends on Friday 3rd July 2020. The competition is open to any child who is aged between 5 and 13 years old.
