World Book Day

On Monday 11th March, children at Stanburn enjoyed our World Book Day celebrations. It was lovely to see the effort that so many children had made to dress up as unusual and unique characters. We were particularly blown away by the effort that went into the story sacks. The children will be able to make good use of them over the rest of the year. Winners for the character dress up and story sack from each year group received book prizes and enjoyed a ‘Jungle Book’ themed tea party.
Every year group explored a different author from Beatrix Potter to William Shakespeare, and then created writing in the style of that author.
The following day, children also enjoyed our annual book swap. The celebrations really helped further develop a love and excitement for reading. “I look forward to World Book Day every year and it never lets me down!” said a Year 5 pupil. “Beatrix Potter came to my class,” said an excited Year 2 pupil. Thank you to everyone who helped support the day!
