At Stanburn we constantly aim to help children develop self-confidence, and to have high self-esteem so that they are enabled to develop healthy, happy and fulfilling lives. We cover a wide range of issues from feelings and emotions, healthy living, growing and changing (including sex and relationships education), citizenship, the environment and drugs education.

The Jigsaw Approach

Jigsaw brings together PSHE education, emotional literacy, social skills and spiritual development in a comprehensive scheme of learning. Jigsaw is designed as a whole school approach, with all year groups working on the same theme (Puzzle) at the same time. This enables each Puzzle to start with an introductory assembly, thereby generating a whole school focus for adults and children alike.

In Jigsaw PSHE, mindfulness is developed through the “Calm me” time in each piece ( lesson).This consists of breathing techniques, awareness exercises, visualisations etc, all tried, tested and very enjoyable for children and teachers alike.

The Six Puzzles:

There are six Puzzles in Jigsaw that are designed to progress in sequence from September to July.
